TOG receives a higher SDI rating from NNS

Newport News Shipbuilding, a division of the newly formed Huntington-Ingalls Industries, formerly Northrop Grumman Corporation has embarked on an enlarged program to qualify selected vendors for vendor-authorized product quality inspections and approvals. These approvals are in lieu of having a “NNS source inspector” and require a rigorous testing and qualification process.

TOG Manufacturing Co., Inc. has been approved for some time under this program labeled SDI, Supplier Delegated Inspection. Most recently however, NNS has decided to expand the programs limits to include certain higher-level product categories that are more critical in nature, defined as Level One designations. Specifically, TOG Manufacturing has now been rated as SDI approved for Q-1 and MC-1 items. In addition, to providing a substantial cost and time benefit to our customers, this enhance authorization is a testimony to the reliability that TOG has consistently demonstrated as a tenured vendor to NNS.

TOG introduces new capability for difficult “deep-hole drilling”

TOG has added a sophisticated and particularly robust piece of centerline drilling equipment capability which is being installed today and expected to be operational within 2 – 4 weeks.

When fully operational, this system will handle the most demanding high strength materials, such as Inconel.

It is capable of center hole drilling of depths up to 70” and diameters of up to 6”.

It accommodates cylindrical stock up to 12” in diameter.

The system is powered by a stout 50 hp motor and employs the speedy single tube process.

TOG expects to be able to service the PowGen, Aero, Defense and miscellaneous Industrial markets with this new capability.
